I’m having a double mastectomy in 3 weeks and immediate reconstruction. I’m having silicone implants. I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on their experiences - like do they look ok? I’m so nervous…. Thank you in advance so much x

  • I'm not surprised that you're feeling anxious and I wish you well. It's good to have someone to keep track of your side effects so that you get the best help from  your medical team.

Re keeping your hair on- I don't agree with your oncologist.
I used cold caps through two cancers successfully.
Downside: It makes the chemo sessions longer. You need to take lorazepam to manage the discomfort.
Upside: I lost some hair but looked pretty much the same.

There is an amazing hairdresser and biochemist who makes hair and skin products for women with cancer and autoimmune diseases. Look up Daniel Field. Give him a ring, tell him which treatment you're having and he will send you the right products to help keep hair/ make it grow back faster and soothe skin.

He helped me so much and all the women I've recommended to him,

    (V reasonably priced too.)

  • Hi, please don’t apologise at all — you didn’t make me anxious, and I truly appreciate your honesty and support. You're absolutely right — chemo is tough, but we’re tougher. Hearing that you got through it gives me real strength. I completely understand the nerves around your operation too — it's such a big step, but you’ve come so far already and I believe in you. We’ll get through all of this together and come out stronger on the other side. Sending you lots of love and positive vibes xx

  • Hi , Thank you so much for taking the time to share all this — it really means a lot. I completely understand where you’re coming from, and it’s reassuring to hear that cold capping worked for you through both cancers. That gives me a bit of hope.

I’ll definitely look up Daniel Field — I hadn’t heard of him before, so I really appreciate the recommendation. It’s so encouraging to know there are people and products out there that genuinely help. Thank you again for being so generous with your experience — it makes such a difference hearing from someone who's been through it. Sending love xx
