Hi. Just wondering if anyone is on weekly treatments on the above and can provide feedback on how they are feeling please? About to start 9 weeks of it.

I’ve been told Taxol is 3 hours and Carboplatin is 1 hour. I am presuming the Carboplatin goes in after the 3 houra or do they mix it? Think it will be a long day with the addition of the cold cap too.

Thank you.

  • Thank you so much for commenting. I know it’s different for everyone but if I can just try and get through it as I have a small child also and with Easter holidays coming up I’d like to try and do stuff with her.
Yes I understand the EC might be harder too but I only have 3 sessions of that so feel that will be more manageable. I have 9 weekly sessions of this one which feels a lot!

Are you using the cold cap? I am going to try that.

  • I have chemo on the Friday and then Friday evening I feel great (guessing because of the pre meds) and then Saturday and Sunday I’ve still been able to function as normal, I would just say be mindful about mixing too much, as my white blood count halves after one session but I know it’s hard with young children to avoid germs/bugs. I’m having my 3rd weekly on Friday and so far it’s actually going very fast so hopefully yours will too. I’m not cold capping no, I think if it wasn’t every week I may have tried but it just felt like an extra thing on top, however I know 2 other ladies also in 30s who are cold capping and both have said they found it ok, and last week there was a lady next to me using the cold cap who seemed very comfortable and relaxed :) hope your doing ok following your diagnosis, it’s alot to get your head around x

  • I am in Preston to

Do you go to Rosemere? Have you got TNBC?
I am unfortunately well known at Rosemere ha!

How old are you? I am 36… nearly said 35 then!xx

  • Yes!! Every Friday I’m there! What day do you go? They are great there aren’t they! Although it’s so busy and noisy!  I’m 34 in May! I have triple negative occult breast cancer, the cancer is in my axilary node but they can’t find any cancer in my breast and I’ve had every scan available… it’s very strange. Are you having immunotherapy aswell??

  • I would suggest that if you are thinking of doing something, just do it!

At least then, you won’t have any regrets and you’ve done all you possibly could that you thought of doing

I cold capped and glad I did. First 10-15 mins is rough but persevere - it gets easier as the time goes on. Just feels like water is swilling round on top of your head xx

  • I will message you privately x I’ve sent a friend request first

  • Mine were booked in for Fridays but I got a call yesterday saying the cold cap isn’t available on Friday so have moved it to Mondays. Yes I heard that about mixing. I’m going to try avoid meeting people in closed areas. Really don’t want to have to miss anything sessions as heard this particular drug is most effective weekly.

Thank you, I am ok. I was diagnosed in October and had two operations already, mastectomy and axillary lymph node removal. I know this next stage of treatment is the best route for prevention so I just want to get on with it now.

  • Hope it all goes ok and you still have a nice Easter with your little one x

  • Don’t restrict your life - just ‘be aware’. I still did things like went out for tea to get me out cos I got signed off - high risk infection job!

I’ve had a mastectomy too and SLNB I think - that much has gone on!
    Is the Christie’s in Manchester?

My moto is - if you’re gonna get unwell, you will. You can’t stop these things unfortunately xx

  • Thank you so much xx
