Hi, I’m almost 2 weeks post up. I got a partial mastectomy in one, and breast reduction in the other.
but no one told me about the skin shedding!!! It’s getting all over my surgical bra.
I think the dry skin is what’s causing the discomfort. It feels as if I’m wearing a very tight wired bra and the wire is digging in hard.
the scars are healing nicely, a lot of tugging, especially under the breast and of course, dried blood and scabs within the stitches/scars. I won’t play with the scabs and in the shower I just allow soap and water to pass over them but don’t use a wash cloth or sponge for obvious reasons.
I have some bepathen at home just wondering if it’s too early to use it to combat the dry skin or just run it on the dry skin around the scars.
Anyone use this ointment before on their surgical sites?
My advice would be to stop the soap and use a fragrance free gentle cleanser and pat dry. Can you go without a bra at all during the day or do you have to wear always except for showering?
Hope it gets better.
Barbara
I use a medical shower gel. But the breast nurse and doctor said to blow dry underneath on a cool setting. I try to spend half an hour every evening without a bra but I feel as if I need support so I just sit, read or watch TV and avoid having to move around.
