I was on Letrozole for 8 months and then had significant depression so my oncologist stopped hormone therapy. I restarted hormone therapy after a 8 months gap switching to Exemestane 25mg. I have been on this for 5 months and my weight is piling on even though I exercise . I am just reaching out to see if the weight increase has happened to anyone else and how you managed.
Hi. I was on Letrozole and immediately piled up about 2 stone in a month. I was eventually changed to exemestane. I didn't lose any weight but it stabilised. I can't recommend anything because I am now 4 years on and will shortly be coming off aromatase inhibitors, and I will see then if I lose weight. My osteoarthritis has worsened and inhibited my exercise, although I do an hour of aqua exercise 5 days a week. Sorry I can't be more positive, but I do wish you luck. When I come off my meds in the summer, I will do a few posts to let people know how soon and if normality returned. xxx
Hi Susie
I am on Exemastane but only been on it for three months. I have put weight on but then I have been comfort eating and although I try and eat healthy food in the day, I have been eating cakes and biscuits and chocolate after my evening meal so that doesnt help. I am going to try and be more healthy because my cancer is hormone receptive and carrying extra weight doesnt help. I think I need some inspiration.

Hi Lee. Thank you for your kind reply. Since I have been on Exemestane I have also been binge eating and its mostly sweet food. I think Exemestane must have affected my metabolism and given me increased appetite. I am constantly hungry and more so in the evenings. You are not alone and you dont know this but you are already an inspiration to many because you have faught this awful disease and its not easy at all. Keep going and inspiring others including me. You are amazing.
Wow thank you Susie70 that is so kind of you. Unfortunately there are a lot of people in my situation with secondary cancer . There are some really awe inspiring people that keep me going too. We are all in this fight together. Hope you are doing as well and you an be and here if you want to chat.

I have just been directed to this group during my search about exemestane which I just started taking after mastectomy. I have Er+ lobular cancer back for 2nd time in left breast. First time round I had lumpectomy and radiation and now the mastectomy. I felt terrible taking anastazole so they switched me to exemestane but now I feel good and hungry. Last time I took tamoxifen and gained 50 lbs which I never lost. I cannot Do that again. These drugs are playing havoc with our hormones and even though I am now 62 and it is easier than it was 7 years ago I still want to sit on the couch and ‘comfort eat’ as we all do. I sure wish we had more choices. I’m in US. Almost ashamed to admit that with the awful orange man at the helm. Good luck to you! You are never alone!
I’ve been on it for over 3 years and couldn’t stop eating! A few months ago I started the Mounjaro weight loss pen, and have lost most of the weight I put on- 3 stone. It’s slower now but I’m still gradually losing weight. It’s very expensive though so not an option for too many people. Although you do save money on buying as much food as you used to.
