Diarrhoea after chemo

Hi Ming I am sorry you are suffering sickness and diarrhoea. It sounds most unpleasant. You are doing all the right things, try to make sure you stay as hydrated as possible whatever happens. I never had sickness but had diarrhoea quite regularly and more or less lived on loperimide ( Imodium) at certain points in each cycle. Don’t be afraid to keep calling the 24 hour number if you are concerned. Usually they operate an assessment centre and will call you into that if they are concerned.

I too had diahorhea after first docotaxel. All you can do is keep drinking and eat bland foods - dry crackers etc. Of course call the helpline for support if needed. The only positive that I can offer you is that it was not so bad for the remaining cycles. If you have trouble drinking would you consider ice lollies? I remember having a lot of them!

Thank jlw. I hope the remaining cycles not so bad. This is the first cycle that made me feel uncertain. Oh, that’s a good idea of ice lollies. Some people said can drink the dioralyte natural sachets (electrolyte powders), can supplement some water and potassium lost. Is it okay? 

Hi. I was in the same chemo as you and it was a balancing act between diarrhoea, Imodium and then constipation.  It's horrid and there's not much I can say except it's super important to keep drinking water.  I hope it eases soon for you, best wishes

1. I've been suffering with many side effects . Diarrhea being one of them .I bought diacare from amazon that has the salts and stuff but also the bacteria needed to build up your gut lining . Along with Imodium I think it's helping and only a fiber so not to hard on my purse
