Dear all, I am looking for ideas on a face and body moisturisers I have always had very dry skin but since chemo it has got much worse, any suggestions of what works best would be so helpful. Sending love and healing hugs to you all xxx
Hi there,
I used Aveeno moisturising cream throughout chemo and found that it was really good although I have never had a problem with dry skin.
I have just started radiotherapy and I am now trying something called Udderly Smooth to see how that is. So far it seems great and goes on very easily being a little lighter than the Aveeno. You can buy it on Amazon.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment xx

I used Epaderm cream during and after chemo. I liked it because you can use it to wash your skin, and then apply again to dry skin, so only needed one item. I had intermittent bouts of incredibly flaky skin, but this seemed to sort it out.
Good luck
I used this too through chemo & RT. Non-greasy but excellent moisturiser for sensitive skin - didn’t use on my face though, just body.
Hi Sparkleandshine I also had dry skin before starting chemo and had peeling on my face and feet once I started.
I’d recommend mentioning it to chemo nurses, mine gave me aveeno but they also had udderly cream which is thicker and something called QV gentle wash which is like a moisturising shower wash. Just saves you buying them because they can be pricey!
This is my routine that’s working for me now (brace yourself, it’s a bit mad):
- cut showers down to once every 2 days (unless smelly of course) and use QV gentle wash all over (face too)
- O’Keefes working hand cream or udderly cream on hands morning and night
- O’Keefes or udderly cream on feet morning and night
- Aveeno or a cheapo (like Vaseline/Dove) body moisturiser all over body once a day
- Aveeno on face morning and night
- Kiehls Ultra Facial Masque on top of aveeno on face at night (this was a present because I’d never spend that much on a moisturiser, I used a very thin layer of Vaseline all over my face before I got this which worked well but you do feel a bit like a slug)
- cheapo hand cream through the day after hand washing
Definitely feels like a full time job! But the QV moisturising wash and cutting down showers were the biggest game changers for me.
Hope some of the advice works for you and that you’re coping okay with chemo otherwise. Sending love x x
Thank you so much, that is really great. Sending love and healing hugs xxx
