Am i right in saying that you cant put your hair in a bobble when getting chemo/using a cold cap? I have very thick curly hair and the only way i can tame it is putting it up. It is also long too so unsure if i should cut my hair a little shorter before treatment or not. Peoples advice and experiences would be much appreciated ️
dont cut it, i had long hair although fine, its only the scalp you need to cool, if you get a minute, look at "look good feel better", was such a help when i went through breast cancer chemo, they have a section on scalp cooling/cold capping, tells you what to take, how to prepare, it puts a little more time on the appointment but i found it fine, yes its cold to start with, but its certainly not horrific.
hope this helps x jules
Hi Tink_
im now 5/8 into my chemotherapy. I am cold capping and so far it’s working, it has thinned a bit but not really noticeable. Leave your hair down for when the cap goes on, just wet your scalp and massage some conditioner in before you put the cap on.
my hair was quite long, and when it started thinning it was getting tangled and I felt the length was dragging more hair out, so after round 2 I cut about 2 inches off the length to shoulder length. Holding up well so far. I hope you have success with it too.
