Any advice from people who have experienced hair loss. I decided not to use the cold cap. Had 1 treatment so far and my hair started thinning on day 14. Now on day 20 due for treatment 2 on Monday and have virtually no hair. I’m planning to get it shaved off on Wednesday. I won’t even discuss the emotional side as you are all more experienced than me. Just wondered what everyone had chosen to do? Shave, head covering, wig? Best type of wig etc.
Hi Eden
I didn't have my head shaved but got my husband to cut my hair on a number one setting with his hair clippers. This meant I was left with a very slight covering as it never completely went.
I then wore head coverings when I went out but didn't wear anything when in the house as it was summer. If it had been the winter I'd probably have worn something indoors as well. There are loads of places that sell head coverings and I particularly liked the ones from an online company called annabandana.co.uk.
I did have a wig which I wore occasionally if I wanted to look more 'normal' when out and about. My hospital give a £100 voucher towards a wig which could be used in certain shops and hairdressers. I chose a hairdresser that specialised in helping people with hair loss and spent time trying on different wigs under their guidance.
That’s great advice. Never thought about going short does thought I had to shave off the lot. Thank you. X
There wasn't much left but I had a soft fuzzy covering.
