Hi, I’m starting my second Chemotherapy on Monday, will it be worse than the first one?
Hi Sussex
I had EC initially for 3 cycles and found I had the same pattern of side effects each time, no worse and no better. I then had 12 weeks of paclitaxel and fortunately didn't have any side affects.
Hi Sussex,
I would say the side effects are accumulative but not hugely, it's very gradual and the side effects you had for the first round are usually the same ones you'll have the whole way through, rather than getting new or different side effects every time. I don't think you'll notice a huge difference from round 1 to round 2 so don't worry...
How was round 1 for you? how many rounds have you got? What chemo are you having?
Good luck and hope the side effects are minimal and that you get to tick off those rounds and come out the other side quickly and relatively unscathed! Sending strength - You've got this!
Hi,
I guess my first round felt worse as I hand my port insertion on the first day of my first Chemo’
My second Chemo I had the same side effects as my first but without the irritation of my port insertion. I hate taking the steroid's. I’m having 6 sessions of Chemo’ so I have a way to go yet.
I’m struggling with what to drink, I drink something that I like then I go off it, I need to keep myself hydrated. I’ve gone off tap water, coffee even squash. I’ve got bottled water, that helps but still not keen.
Thanks for your replies
Really good to hear that. I start EC next week for 3 cycles, then paclitaxel for 9 weeks, so very similar to you...I've read about different reactions to EC,but not much about reactions to Paclitaxel x
I have just finished 12 weekly paclitaxel sessions. I was very tired but tolerated it quite well until the 8th session. After that I got neuropathy in fingertips, bloating and a feeling of tightness around my chest, and extreme tiredness. I am unsteady on my feet, my legs ache, and I have mucosis of the gut. It's a week since chemotherapy ended and I haven't improved yet. I am 74, female. This is my second time having chemotherapy. The first time I had EC chemotherapy and I was absolutely fine.
