  • Hi  and welcome to the group.

What sort of questions do you have?

  • Too many today tbh how long does it take from mri to chemo and how wil I feel after the first treatment will my life change dramatically due to side effects?

  • I didn't have an MRI scan so can't answer that part of your question.

I did have chemo though. In my case I had 2 different types. The first one was epirubicin and cyclophospamide, or EC for short, and that was given three weekly, three times. The second type was paclitaxel and that was given once a week for 12 weeks.

With EC I mainly felt a bit under the weather for the first 10 days then I'd feel fine for the rest of the time until the next dose when the same pattern would repeat. With paclitaxel I didn't have any side effects.

Do you know which chemo you're having?

  • Thanks for your reply no I don’t yet I didn’t realise there were different types, did you manage to keep your hair and how are you now

  • Hi TTK, I have had various scans and tests, my timings are on my profile if it helps.  I have started to lose my hair 5 days after my second cycle of chemotherapy.   It looks like loads when it comes out but to the casual observer it probably isn't that noticeable.   I am using the cold cap to try and prevent too much hair loss.   Good luck with everything x

  • I lost my hair after about 4 weeks on EC but it started to grow back towards the end of my paclitaxel treatment.

I finished all my treatment (lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy) in January 2023 and yearly mammograms have been clear since.
