Hi, my mum is 76 and was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy. She was going to have docetaxel and possibly carboplation, along side herceptin. After two 2 cycles of docetaxel, and Herceptin, they have decided not to go with carboplatin. She has been fatigued but out and about after a week or so. She has been told the docetaxel is a low dose and has lost no hair. They dropped the carboplatin in case in made her to unwell to have any treatment. I suppose I’m concerned with only one chemo drug in low dose it might not be enough. I wonder if her age comes into it. It was not in her lymph nodes but her two lumpectomies were not enough to get a clear margin. Many thanks.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. I didn't have the same treatment as your mum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
