Dear All, I had a mastectomy and lymph node removal on 20th December, the district nurse kindly visited up until new years day and left me a couple of spare dressings should I need them. My question is when do I remove the dressings from the lymph node and mastectomy area as I have not got an appointment yet to see a consultant about results. The lymph node area is still a bit painful but the mastectomy area has not caused me too many issues. Many thanks for any feedback, sending healing hugs to you all.
If you weren't given any instructions on when to remove your dressings when you were discharged you should give your BCNS a call, as different hospitals/surgeons have different views. For example, I was given an appointment at the dressing clinic to have mine removed.
Hi there, I suggest you phone or email the breast clinic. I had an appointment in the diary for day seven and day 14 post surgery. My PICO dressing was removed on day seven and new dressings changed and then removed on day 14.
My lymph node dressing was the most awkward as it wanted to peel away all the time.
I hope this helps.
Thank you, I will give them a call tomorrow as have no follow up appointments until the results are in x
