Dear All, I had a mastectomy on Friday 20th December and had my lymph nodes taken out. I had the first drain removed on boxing day and since than it wont stop leaking out where the drain was removed. The lovely nurses are coming out daily and redoing dressings etc and told me it is where I am mobile so this is normal. Please can I ask how long this goes on for as feel uncomfortable going out as needing to cover dressing area with protection as will show on clothing. Thank you so much for any feedback. xxx
Hi Sparkleandshine
I had the the same problem last year after surgery to remove my lymph nodes in my right arm. It lasted for about two weeks. My breast care nurse used a Pico dressing on mine which turned the liquid into gel so that I didn't have to worry about getting my clothes wet.
Hope it settles soon.
Best wishes

Thank you so much for your reply. I ended up ringing 111 and they told me to go straight to A & E. A lovely nurse took the drain out and thankfully all has calmed down. The difference with the drains taken out has been incredible. Sending lots of love and hugs xxx
