Hi all.

I'm trying to find some zip front fastening bras. I'm having surgery on the 19th December to remove 3 cancerous lumps from my right breast and all of my lymph nodes in my armpit.

Does anyone have any suggestions please. I've already bought one from Bravissimo x

  • Hi Sarah41

Following lumpectomy and SLNB the best bra for me was, by far, a Nike Dri Fit zip front high support sports bra that I already had. Held everything nicely in place (so no jiggling!), no seams, snug enough to give some compression to help swelling (but not too tight), and has a little padding so I felt protected. Bit pricey, from memory about £50, but I still use this for gym/running and worth every penny.

Hope your surgery goes well. x

  • Hi, I found M&S were pretty good and had a range of options. I also had a couple of soft crop top bralette type things for a little support when I was just at home and these were much more comfy. Best wishes

  • Primark has post surgery front zip bras and a post surgery zip front sports bra. Consider a slightly bigger under bust band than you normally wear to accommodate swelling. After about 3 days I found the M&S and Primark post surgery bras were digging into the swelling on my side really painfully, leaving a line of bruises, so I have switched to the Sloggi zero feel bras I usually wear (they have pockets for removable padding where I have been able to insert the softie from the hospital).

  • Thank you Eebee xx

  • Hi Sarah, I bought various bras before surgery but ended up only using my soft bralettet type bras which I bought online from Conturve. They were so comfy I bought more and have worn them day and night. They have good offers too. Best wishes.

    • I bought one zip front bra from cancer research and one from Nicola Jane. They have pockets for your softie.
