Gastric issues post surgery?

Hi all

i had my surgery (lumpectomy) 15 days ago. Unfortunately i have been on painkillers on and off since. Along with soarness near lymph node removal site and on-off digestion issues, my most troubling issue has been severe gastric that then leads to back and stomach pain. I take gaviscon thats not helping much either.
Speaking to nurses, not much support and they are suggesting to ho via GP- dont think i have much patience for it with everything that’s going on.
I believe wearing bra aggravates the trouble so trying to avoid when at home.

anyone else had similar experience? Welcome your suggestions for a speedy recovery-

thanks dear community!

  • Hi

It sounds like you're suffering and I hope things have calmed down since you wrote this.

I didn't experience this after my lumpectomy but responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list again.

  • Hi PB29,

I have really bad heartburn and drank gallons of heartburn liquid for a couple of years and it used to happen more when I was stressed. I told my GP and he prescribed Omeperazole. I take it daily and haven’t suffered since.
I really hope you feel better soon as gastric pain is very painful.

Sorry I can’t be of more help! X

  • Hi PB29,

I had similar gastric issues after surgery, but it turned out that it was a combination of lactose intolerance (I had no idea that you can become lactose intolerant later in life) and gallstones. The cancer treatment was not the cause. The back and stomach pain do sound similar to gallstone symptoms and when I had a gallstone attack the first thing I had to do was remove my bra to try to cope with the pain and discomfort.

Please speak to your GP and explain your symptoms. It may be something completely different, but you need to get it checked out.
