Hi everyone
I’ve been on Abemaciclib for around 18 months now along with prostap injections and letrozole . I started on 150mg x2 but was reduced to 100 x 2 after a few months due to D & nausea
My liver readings in the 4 weekly blood tests have always been in the mid to high region but within normal range ( except GGT which was over the maximum level even before I started !)
Recently they have crept up and the oncologist wants me to have a CT scan which has sent me into a spin !
Has anyone else experienced issues with liver / kidneys on this drug ?
xx
Hi,
I’ve just started my 2nd cycle of Abemaciclib x 2 per day. I was on 150mg for the first month and now I’ve been reduced to 100mg. I was experiencing severe side effects of diarrhoea and nausea which I believe can happen when taking this tablet. I also take Letrozole, Adcal D3 and 4 weekly injections of Zoladex.
I’ve never had a problem with my bloods in the past 12 months until now, my kidney levels went really low. I had to stop taking it for a week, as I was advised by the oncologist. I believe this was due to dehydration from the side effects. My kidney function is now back to normal and I’ve just started taking the 2nd cycle at 100mg.
Im hoping that it doesn’t effects my kidneys again and that I don’t experience the same extreme side effects as before.
Hope this helps
xx
Hi
thank you for your reply . I’m so glad your bloods have returned to normal , the D in particular can be tough !

I was on Abemaciclib for about 6 weeks and my ALT went up to 900 . I came off it and had scans MRI and saw liver specialist. It continued going up to 1900 and then started falling back down to normal after a few months. Nothing showed up on any scans and specialist said it was just a reaction to the pills so hopefully that is all yours is x
Hey
Wow sounds like your liver was not happy with having those drugs at first ! Glad it’s all settled
thank you x
Hi Dollydimple, how was your liver scan. I’ve had my bloods taken today and my GGT is 119. I’m on my 11th cycle of Abemaciclib. I have an appointment on Friday but my ALT and LFT’s hasn’t come up on patient knows best, I suspect that’s because it’s abnormal. My ALP is also in upper region of normal. I’ve recently had a respiratory infection and required antibiotics so I’m unsure if that has influenced my blood results. Just feeling very anxious and don’t want to spread my anxiety by discussing it with family or friends.
