Hi all.
I had a biopsy done a few weeks ago due to a lump in my breast, at the hospital the nurse who performed the scan and biopsy said its an fibroadenoma, and the doctor who studied the results agreed. Mass was smooth and oval.
He told me I'd receive a letter with results.
I've not had a phone call asking me to come in a few days to see another doctor. No other information was given.
Is this normal? Are biopsy results shared at a meeting even if its not cancer? I am absolutely freaking out, I thought I was in the clear.
Hi! Id suggest contacting them and seeing if you can be seen ASAP before Christmas to avoid anxiety over the holidays.
My original letter said I'd be contacted via letter if biopsy was negative for cancer, then I had the call to come in. It was obvious from that, that it wasn't good news, I just wanted to think positively I think.
Thankfully everything happened so fast for me and I've just finished all of my chemo and it's all going extremely well.
It's quite rare for something to look like a fibroadenoma but turns out to be cancer though. Mine is from brca1 gene.
I can't tell you why they want to call you in, every hospital is different, I'd definitely call them as its not fair for you to be anxious over the holidays.
Fingers crossed for you, whatever the outcome!
Hi Larry20
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you found a lump and that you had to have a biopsy. I suggest that you ring the breast clinic and ask for an earlier appointment if possible, maybe put yourself down for the first available appointment cancellation.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results.
Best wishes

I called the clinic this morning and they said they couldn’t give me any more information so it looks like I’ll have to wait it out , which isn’t ideal considering the time of year, I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s all good, but something tells me it isn’t and I’ve had bad feelings ever since I had my biopsy
If you can't get an earlier appointment, try to keep yourself distracted and enjoy the holidays.
I postponed my appointment as I went to a festival, in my mind I just thought, if it's bad news, I want to enjoy myself before I get told, so that's what I did! Went to my appointment hungover lol
The waiting for results is the absolute worth part of it all because your mind wonders to the worst. Even now for me, waiting for those results was the worst part of the whole process! Once I was told, and then got a treatment plan, I was just like oh OK then let's just get this over and done with.
Hopefully yours is good news! But I promise you, its not the end of the world if its not
