Hi all,  To all that are taking (prescribed) Cakci-D or similar because you are on Letrozole and/or Abemaciclib.   Were you told that Calci-D could have an effect on Abemaciclib if taken together?  My oncologist advised I take it as far apart as possible.  I never hear anyone else mention this so I would be interested to know is this is well known.

all good wishes to everyone x

  • Hi there, I take anastrozole, abemaciclib & calcium D tablets. It's never been mentioned that I should take the calcium as far away as possible from the abemaciclib tablets.

I've just started cycle 21 of Abemaciclib so hopefully it isn't an issue lol

    Hope you are doing OK.

    Best wishes, Vivienne x

  • Hi, it’s never been mentioned to me. Do you know the evidence for this advice or is it just his gut feeling? I normally take it an hour after but I will now take it about 4 hrs after Abemaciclib.

  • I don’t have evidence of this but when I started taking Amebaciclib I told my oncologist I was taking it with my evening Abemaciclib so as not to forget to take it.  Her response was that because it can interact with some drugs it’s best to take it as far apart from Amebaciclib as possible.

I was just wondering if anyone else was told this.  It may have been that my oncologist was just being over cautious since it was newly rolled out for early breast cancer when I first started on it.
