Slow healing wound.

Hi again. I had WLE and therapeutic mammoplasty over 5 mths ago following excision of a grade 3 tumour. Part of the wound on the affected breast broke down 2 weeks after surgery and a small 10p piece sized size hasn't healed since. At the breast clinic last Monday, the nurse applied cavilon barrier lotion and now I have blisters which may be a reaction to the lotion. I know chemo can delay the healing process but I'm quite concerned that it won't be healed fully before radiotherapy. Has anyone started radiotherapy with broken skin?

I was told it had to be fully healed before radiotherapy. My mastectomy wound took 9 weeks to heal.

Thanks for replying Robann. I'm at 22 weeks and counting. Hopefully it will be fully healed within the next few weeks, but it's disheartening when there's a setback.

I was referred to the community nurses I had a halfpence size hole, they used manuka honey infused gauze and ointment and it healed pretty quick after that x

Ooh... I have medical grade manuka honey in the fridge. Time to christen it I think I'm so glad yours has healed
