Hi,
did anyone take docetexal? Are side effects delayed? With EC I was bed ridden for 3 days but I had docetexal yesterday and I was fine… just wondering if side effects are delayed
My first chemo was EC and fine on it. Had quite a few symptoms on first docataxel, taste changes on and off, swollen heals to the extent couldn’t put my heal on the floor. Nose burning where I have been blowing it for weeks. Eyes watering and looking a bit reddish.
Worse thing is my stomach is so bloated, and every couple of days my weight is rocketing. Lost two stone since May and now in a space of two weeks have put on nearly a stone, at first o thought is was water retention but now think it is due to the steroids as been eating rubbish on it which I haven’t eaten for months.
Anyone else put on massive weight gain, from the steroids. Steroids are far worse than chemo. 8 tablets a day is so many to take.
I was same couldn’t understand what was happening to my stomach?! Suddenly started looking like I am pregnant with a massive bloated stomach. Put so much weight in a mater of two weeks!! It’s not normal I think
I’ve put some weight back on - I lost weight before my diagnosis but have put some weight back on so they’re happy I’m not as thin. The steroids have been increased for my 2nd infusion due to my Docetaxel burns to my mouth and right hand - this has helped a lot this time around so I’m thankful x
Thanks for starting this conversation. I have my first dose of D today after 3 rounds of EC. I’ve been worried about what to expect.
What symptoms do people get with the nerve damage so I know what to look out for? Seems to be lots of people experiencing it.
Also, how’s the hair loss? I’ve lost a lot of my hair from EC so I shave it off. I still have my eyebrows and eyelashes for now. Hoping they stay with D.
Morning - I lost most of my hair through EC but more so from matting rather than shedding so like you off it came. I do have a wig but I’m wearing hats atm and it’s so much warmer given it’s nearly Christmas
live done 2 infusions of D so far and got one more left to do. My eyebrows and eyelashes have thinned out but they’re just about surviving - I’ve purchased some false eyelashes from Eyelure called Cashes which were designed by someone going through cancer. I’ve purchased Rimmel brow stuff as they used to be thick so you put the wax on they coat it with a powder and that seems to do the job
As for nerve damage it’s not too significant with me though I do have docetaxol burns to my right hand and my tongue which makes my food taste gross !
I hope you’re coping ok with your first infusion and keep drinking lots of fluids plus have some chapstick at the ready as I also get very dry lips in the night x
