Hi,

did anyone take docetexal? Are side effects delayed? With EC I was bed ridden for 3 days but I had docetexal yesterday and I was fine… just wondering if side effects are delayed

  • I’m starting to feel better , I was told to take paracetamol and that these pains are to be expected… but I think I’m on the mend now…. I think they only make adjustments to your chemo plan if side effects are absolutely unbearable . Otherwise they accept the risk of nerve damage

  • Glad you’re feeling a bit better - my hospital prescribed cocodamol for those aches & pains.  I hope your next session is ok x

  • Okay, that is good to know. I’ll ask about it next time.

  • I had my first docetaxel over a week ago and still don’t feel great. I felt better on EC to be honest.
I have no appetite and am still very tired, really struggling this time. Anyone else struggled with this pls?

  • EC was far kinder to me and it took 2 weeks to get over Docetaxel - I lost my tastebuds this time round which was awful Disappointed

  • must admit i feel more tired on paclitaxel (similar) than i did on previous chemo, i find the aches make me want ti lie down more. i go to bed much earlier and read, like 6 pm because sitting up just kinda aches.

ask for better pain killers and be sure to mention nerve pains and if they are bad, they can prescribe meds to help.

maybe try plain yoghurt, i found my tastebuds were muted on taxol, but i think i had an overgrowth of bacteria on tongue as it was very pale. so i have small bowl of yoghrt w manuka honey every other day, taste buds seem better

  • Thank you for that, it makes me feel a bit better. Sorry to hear about your taste buds, it’s just awful isn’t it. I’m having soups at this stage which seem to be ok, but hoping it will get better soon.
    You take care too.

  • I had delayed side effects with docetaxel. First 2-3 days I felt OK, and then they hit me! I also found they lasted longer and new side effects appeared. Whereas with EC, I felt rubbish from Day 1 until abut day 4 and gradually got better.

  • Yes I had one day when it’s didn’t matter how I sat or laid it hurt so I took a cocodmol and that sent me to sleep.
    Yoghurt is good Blush

  • Soup is good too - I purchased a few cup-a-soups which strong flavours if I didn’t fancy food - I went off butter too ! My taste is recovering but it’s not quite there yet.
