Hi how is everyone doing?
Some of you may already have started the next phase if treatment, possibly Docetaxel etc.
With me starting chemo at the end of August, I am just past cycle 2 of EC and thought I'd check in to see if any of you lovely lot wanted to share updates, side effects, hints and tips, as it's been / gone a little quiet.
So for me, first cycle was definitely unpleasant with the nausea & first week of no energy, no appetite, no sleep etc.
Hair pretty much all gone by day 15 on 1st cycle.
After 1st week, I improved quickly day by day.
2nd cycle was much better with an additional stronger anti sickness, Aprepitant (I think) so it felt more manageable.
I am just on day 3 of Filgrastim injections so starting to get over the 1st week side effects, and now on the way back to a bit of '' normal ''
I'd love to hear how all of the other August starters are doing!
Let us know your wellness hints and tips if you have any to share!
Take care everyone
Lisa x
Hi, My side effects have been minimal with ec only nausea and tiredness, couple of dizzy spells and aching gums for 1st 2, 3rd cycle no side effects, could be due to fact I had blood transfusion day before, 4th cycle I was then put on docetaxel and started 1st of the phesgo injections no side effects, 5th cycle day after a bit of nausea and that's it. Last cycle has been delayed because I went for echocardiogram and they found masses in my right atrium of heart so then was admitted to investigate what it was between infection, blood clot or another cancer, so they started investigation for infection and took blood culture's and then also started giving me blood thinners. So 2 injections of fragmin and then one tablet of warfarin then they decided to put me on heparin, after a week had to go to different hospital for cardiac mri, then back to the hospital u was admitted to following day had results to show not a tumour and was blood clot, then had another echocardiogram to see if clot had shrunk but it had got bigger they contacted the other hospital who were going to review my scans and see what to do possible surgery and then they said they wanted me there to do transesophageal echocardiogram, on the day I went they done another echocardiogram, normal one 1st if they got clear windows I wouldn't have to have the other one, they said the picc line was inserted too long and had scrapped inside wall of heart, and wanted to remove it but one clot was attached to it and they didn't want it to move so ended up having thrombectomy they managed to get one out and remove picc line but the other wasn't safe to remove. Carried on with heparin infusion then had another echo to see if shrunk it had a bit and then another echo following day still same size so have put me on fragmin injections as heparin didn't seem to be dissolving blood clot. Now home should have had last chemo Thursday now been moved to 9th Nov, u have follow up on the 8th for blood clot.
Omg what a nightmare for you. Hope clots clear up and you get your last chemo.
Sending love
