anyone else starting? first one is Wednesday, not going to lie, FREAKING out!

  • Did they not check your temp when you had line flushed? I had that done everytime.

  • No they don't, it wasn't anything to do with the flush, it was just I was  feeling not good on way to hospital, then got son to pick me up after got home and then flopped on sofa then took temp then waited half hour or so and took it again then phoned them. Probably should have mentioned not being steady when I was there initially but live and learn x

  • Lesson to be learned tell your team if you feel rough -  They normally asked me when I went and as i said took my temperature and blood pressure. They always worried about my BP being high.

  • hey there, how are you doing?i am off for bloods today Eyes

  • Hi,

I'm starting my first round this Friday and was just wondering how you got on ( I hope it went smoothly and you're recovering well), if you don't mind me asking. I'm also very nervous and haven't had a chance to look around or have a chat in advance with the unit as they are too busy. I've got the world's biggest bag packed!! Hoping they give me everything I need in terms of meds on the day and show me how to inject filgestim I need to take. I think it's just the unknown! Xxx

  • Hey Moomin,

i had my first one last Friday. I’m an overthinker and, oh boy, the days before friday was a constant worrying and thinking the worst would happen.

Everybody is different but personally it wasn’t that bad for me. I had immunotherapy first for an hourish and chemo abraxane for 20 mins with flushes in between.

    I had with me:

    chewing gums

    lemon candies

    crosswords

    knitting needles

    nintendo switch

    sparkling water.

the ward had teas, coffees, cookies, juices (warm) and sandwiches

if you get nauseous the nurses will give you anti sicknes tablets, avoid drinking a lot of water and have some ice instead (it calms the thirst and wont make you feel sick)

I hope it all goes well.

    lots of love

    1. Thank you, that's really helpful and good to hear. I too am a big overthinker!  I find the waiting the worst; I was the same before my surgery and that turned out fine. Sending hugs for the rest of your treatment. Xx
  • hi Moomin, it went ok, as people say scarier before than after, my nurse was very chatty, but i was there three hours, so u take pills anti sickness and steroids then wait, then the do first batch and keep a close eye on you, then the second batch.

i didn't eat much the day before and and only had a hashbrown in the morning of, drank lots of water at appt. and when i was done i ran away. felt ok first couple of days, take steroids for 2 days after, and then just had blehs, food was bleh, water was bleh,, felt kinda bleh and didnt do very much.

but after monday felt pretty ok, food is still bleh, but don't feel fuzzy headed anymore. til this weekend again, as Wednesday is second round. the shots are not too bad some people get bone aches but i didn’t notice, i take mine early evening before bed

they did my bloods today, and the dr said they are good, all same routine for the next round.

good luck. bring something to occupy yourself of the nurses arent chatty, i brought audiobook, but never got to listen

  • Hi, I am going fine now after antibiotics, good luck with bloods, my last lot before last chemo came back I have low iron so now they are sending me for endoscopy, I have bloods again Monday, then endoscopy and 3rd chemo on Wednesday. How are you getting on? Xxx

  • doing well, the dr said “oh your bloods good so we have the right amount of shots.” oops i was hoping for less shots. she said not that good. anyway, so far ok, she seemed shocked i was ok, so same routine tomorrow. preparing for the blehs, will buy sanpelangrino orange drinks today and some fresh veggies to gnaw on. i will do the same and fast (300ish calories) today since it seemed to work for me.

hope your third goes smoothly and the endoscopy doesn't find anything nefarious xx.
