Hi all, just collected my repeat prescription for Anastrazole. I’ve been on this for exactly two years, and always the Accord brand. Looked in the bag to see the Mylan brand, which I queried. Was told that Accord Anastrazole is no longer available, and that the company has been bought out by another. Does anyone know any more about this please?
Thank for that information Cloudier.....I've just been given Teva instead of Accord Anastrazole so did wonder
Hi Cloudier
I am 6 years post diagnosis and I was on Anastrozole as well. I had exactly the same issue as you once upon a time, despite Accord brand only being written on my prescription slip. Every now and again, it appears that pharmacies can't get hold of Accord Brand. I took my prescription slip back and went round every pharmacy in town and even further afield and found a month's supply. After that, I did my research and yes - Teva is the same (it's the coatings that make a huge difference to side effects) and when Accord wasn't available I was able to find Teva. It's worrying enough having to take the tablets, without the brand shortages adding to your stress isn't it? So glad you found out about Teva
Kindest Wishes, Lesley
Thank you Lesley. I managed to get a packet of Accord from another chemist. Just about to submit a new repeat prescription request … fingers crossed!
Hi all - a quick update ….. I have been told again by a pharmacy that Accord Anastrazole is discontinued. So I wrote to Accord last night asking if this is true. They replied today saying:
Good afternoon, Thank you for your enquiry.
“Unfortunately, the ANASTROZOLE 1mg TAB is Short Term Out of Stock with no return to stock date available. Please note this product is manufactured in India therefore this could suggest delay in this product.
This product has not been discontinued.”
I guess this might account for why so many people on the forum have been offered alternative brands.
Hope this helps
Just had my Anastrazole RX filled in US and no Accord brand available here either. Have another brand and hate changing. I have had 2 different brands and this is number 3. I think all generic Anastrazole is made in India. A real pain as always wonder if the different binders and fillers will make a difference in side effects.
