Hi all,
I have had three rounds of EC and rounds 2 and 3 have shown raised liver levels. After round 2 went up to 160 delaying treatment for a week. I am due to start my new Paclitaxel/Carboplatin treatment tomorrow and had my bloods done today - liver level is 80. Have to be retested tomorrow to see if lowered sufficiently and if not then no treatment. Im so disappointed that this has happened again. I feel I do everything I can to be healthy - no alcohol, eat the right foods etc etc. Now wondering how common this is and whether I should be asking further questions about it. Does anyone have the magic answer to ensure optimum liver enzyme levels???
I had low blood counts & high liver counts at various points throughout chemo. I ate a tonne of kale, broccoli, spinach & beetroot - I also had a mango every day as I read these are supposed to be good especially for your liver - I managed to squeak through my chemo sessions. I hope you can get back on track soon
I have been rocking it out on the spinach etc - basically green veg. I didn't’ know about mangos though. I really don't like mango but needs must and all that! Of course I am slightly concerned that spoiling liver enzymes mean something more sinister but trying not to go there!
Good luck today! I know how you feel re anxiety - my alt reading was 140ish before my last chemo - they still let me have it though as they said it wasn’t “dangerously high”.
They said they would give it a chance to sort itself out after chemo & check me a few weeks later. I had myself convinced it was something sinister but when levels were checked again, it had gone right down to normal levels - Chemo makes your liver work very hard but it will recover.
Best wishes for today
Thanks - just had the call to say treatment can go ahead this afternoon! Dreading the big freeze! - scalp - hands and feet but will try my best to bash it out! Thanks for replies guys - somehow feels less daunting with you on side. Have treated myself to two coffees, a plate of beetroot and a spinach omelette today so far and it’s not even mid day!!
