Evening all Grinning

Just finished my 3rd EC today - my health board only offer 3 cycles it appears- totally tolerated my Chemo very eell.

I had mild nausea and bit of upset tummy and general feeling of being off - so good response to EC Chemo.

At oncology yesterday I was advised that I am to stay on a fortnightly routine and instead of Docetaxel I will now receive a Dose Dense Paciltaxel fortnightly dose x 3..

I would appreciate anyone's input regarding the benefits of this routine. I appreciate Paciltaxel is kinder but is it as effective?

Right now I getting my increasingly wound up over the effectiveness of this routine.

Docetaxel is a known tougher drug and very effective  - as much as I don't want a brutal Chemo...I want this hit  hard and done. - and I can clearly tolerate it

I was speaking with another lady today. - she has had successfully lumpectomy and full auxillary node clearance  - she was 3 node positive out of 12... she is on Docetaxel.

I have had unsuccessful lumpectomy ( no clear margins Nd multi focal- mastectomy to follow after Chemo) full auxillary node clearance 24 removed.....14 postive for disease Unamused...and seem to be on ab accelerated yet milder Chemo.

I hoping someone here is more knowledgeable than me and help me see clearly because bottom line is my team won't be short changing ...

Much appreciated to all x

  • Hi Fly Away, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I had 4 x EC followed by Docetaxel. I found the EC chemo harder going. Docetaxel has been kinder although I am more tired on it. I am starting to suffer a bit with my nails but I have been using polybalm and am hoping this will help. I can’t help on dose dense Paclitaxel but there will be others that can advise of their experiences with that. Your medical team should be able to offer advice as to why they are looking to change your chemo and can perhaps put your mind at rest about it.

  • Hi I’ve had 2 x Docetaxel and barely any side effects whatsoever! Nails are fine, using Polybalm. Last one next week.

  • Hi, you might think about giving the lovely folks at Macmillan a call to chat this through as I am sure they can help. The number is 0808 808 0000.  Best wishes
