Hi, I’m beginning 15 days of radiotherapy tomorrow - quite nervous tbh. I’m quite active and since my mastectomy have managed to get back up to my 4 miles a day - I’m really hoping I can carry this on, even if it’s slightly less.
How have you all found your fatigue levels? Also any hints or tips for creams, shower cream, managing heat and itching etc much appreciated x
Hi Diane how are you feeling - have you finished your radiotherapy now? I start mine on Wednesday for 5 days. I’ll be 15 weeks since op. It’s hard waiting, I feel my life is on hold. I’m having awful night sweats on Anastrozole, but apart from that OK. I have been taking it for 8 weeks, so hope I will settle down in due course. Still walking every day, it is keeping me sane! Take care Julie
Hi Julie I’ve had 14, last one Monday - I think I’ve managed quite well really, my skin is red but not too sore and they’re really happy with it. I’ve been slathering on E45 3 times a day starting a week before and it’s really helped - no bra has also helped with lack of rubbing too (although I don’t like my wonky boobs so I’ve been in baggy sacks for 3 weeks
Fatigue wise I’m feeling it now but I’m fine in a morning so I too have continued walking, 4 miles a day - it’s really helped so I plan that into my morning so I can take it easy the rest of the day.
Hoping your night sweats calm down - I’m on Tamoxifen, been about 7 weeks ish now and things seem to be going ok so far
I’m told my last RT will trigger an appointment in 6 weeks with the oncologist so I’m looking to get back to normal life as soon as I can - I’ve brushed the cobwebs off my Vespa which has been sat there since last year and I’m ready to get back out there!
Keep me posted on your treatment xx
Well done you, hope always on the horizon. I had 5 days of radiotherapy, finished last Friday.. The boob isn't inflamed, just a tiny bit. I am using Aveeno when I remember. Wondering about swimming again. Impressed with your determination and 4 mile daily walk. It's hard to accept losing ability. I went to a dance class last Weds and to gym on Thursday. 30 mins between treadmill and exercycle. Yesterday I felt lazy again and couldn't believe I had done it. My hair looks awful, growing the grey out maybe isn't an option it just adds to the feeling. I was looking at vegetable hair dyes yesterday, might have to experiment.
Bright day today, I know some of you have snow.
Spicy soup yesterday, had a walk around the shops. XxxxxxxX
Looks delicious! I had a semi permanent dye put on last week and it made me feel better - hair is very fine and patchy in places, started coming out after my mastectomy so wigs might be on the horizon for me I think.
I wish this was the end of treatment but I have to have my expander implant replaced as it caused an infection when expanding and it’s too big to leave half empty so when I have that replaced I’m opting for the other breast to be removed for risk reducing.
Anyway that’s in the future, we can all start to look to brighter days ahead very soon. I see you’re from my neck of the woods originally! X
I'm from Burnley, haven't lived there for a long time. I'm going back next Friday to check the other one. I'm obsessing about the way the nipple looks. Hope it's nothing though. I know it sounds freeky, I do check things out with my pendulum at times. Xx
I have 2 days to go of 15 almost see the end in sight and I think I have gotten away lightly too , boob is red and itchy but manageable and the fatigue kicks in early afternoon ! I’m getting fed up of the stripping off and getting the boobs out and the worst part is the walk from the changing area to the bed with 3 radiographers waiting for me but it’s over soon !!
