Hi is anyone starting chemo this January 2023? I will be starting at the end of this week and I am going for a PICC line placement tomorrow. It would be good to connect with other people starting this journey. Any tips/advice are also welcomed thank you.
I thought it was my last chemo today, pic line out (ouch! but hurray )
unfortunatly found out that 3 weekly phesgo infusions gonna carry on until feb, I signed consent re this, but as this was pre- seizure, ob. did not remember. Disappointed as diarrhoea, shortness of breath, nose bleeds, taste disturbances and bladder irritation have been barely tolerable for 15 weeks, so not keen on these delights extending for another 10 months. Also hoping this won’t mean I am bald for a whole year as was looking really forward to my hair growing back.
Anyone else moved to phesgo only? How did you find it?
Meet oncologist on wed to discuss letrozole and radiotherapy. Sorry to hear about death of your mum Lorraine, esp at this moment in your life, hope you are getting lots of support from people around you *hug*
Also need to go on diet, i seem to have acquired over a stone in the past few months, wardobe severely limited and needy to L weight to get into summer T-shirts and shorts. Wry impressed with the 100 miles in May challenge . ,. . as it does not stipulate how fast I need to walk, am tempted to sign up as well. Thanks for the headup Onethebay xx
Hope everyone has a good week enjoying the sunshine
Hi Chipknicker, I’ll be on Phesgo for a year. I finished chemo on Thursday . My hair has been growing back so I don’t think it will go on Phesgo. Hopefully the side effects are from the chemo and not the Phesgo but won’t know until I have my first Phesgo on its own in 3 weeks time. I’ve kept my port as I have to have steroids and piriton because I reacted to my first Phesgo treatment.
Keep in touch we can compare notes on how we get on.

Hi Chipknicker I've had four Phesgo injections since finishing chemo and no side effects to speak of. My hair started growing back about 8 weeks after my last chemo and Phesgo doesn't seem to be impeding growth. I didn't gain any weight during chemo (in fact I lost 4lb, possibly because of loss of taste and appetite), but I was overweight to begin with and I'm still trying to lose more to reach a healthy weight. For me there's only one way that works: watching what I eat and being more active. It's jolly hard and boring as I love to eat and don't particularly enjoy exercise. But I've set myself a goal now and I'm determined to reach it and stay there as I want to do everything I can to reduce my risk of recurrence. Go for the 100 miles! You can do it! All the best xx
Am gonna buy a pedometer to get me going! thanks for the encouragement both re hair growth and to have a target re getting fitter xx
Sorry you got to keep your port a bit longer, but so worth it to keep needles to a minimum. Let me know how it goes for you just on the phesgo and visa Verda xx

Hope you are all getting on well. Thinking of you all. I finished my chemo just before Easter weekend. Just had my radio to planning CT scan and tattoo marks done this morning at the Sutton Royal Mardsen. I start my 10 days of radiotherapy on 4th May. Sitting typing this from the Maggies centre on site a Sutton hospital with a cup of tea having dropped in and spoken to a lovely lady here this morning after my appointment. Came to check out what services they offer and going to sign up for a couple of things. Hopefully chat to you this Friday. Big hugs to all this week. Ali xx
cuffcake2000 Lorraine058 thinking of you both. It was the 2 year anniversary of my mum’s passing on 15th April last weekend. It will I think always be a peculiar day. Loosing a parent is very dislocating.
big hugs xxx

Thank you all for your kind words. We have mums funeral on Monday :-( im wk 5 into wk 9 and i have to say this wk of all wreks has not been kind to me. I was admitted to hospital sunday even due to temp spike i have to give it to the nurses they were waiting for me and my obs, bloods, covid and mrsa test were all done within 15 mins all came back clear thankfully. Was sent home next day slept most of the day and Monday night temp started spiking again and was for most of yesterday. I had clinic today they are unsure what it it but are happy theres no infection. So no idea whats going on at the minute hope it settles down. Glad to hear some of us are finishing chemo and moving onto radio i have a metring with my oncologist next week to discuss this. Hope all is well with is all...lets keep our chins up xx
It must be so hard for you at the moment Lorraine, it's so very sad to loose your mum at any time but especially now. The trouble with having cancer is that the rest of life doesn't just go away. It's still there too, with all it's stresses and pain.
Sorry to hear you've had a bad week too and I really hope it gets better for you from here on in. You are getting through it day by day. The finish line will come. I just couldn't think of it but now, today, is my last one. I'm quite emotional in all sorts of ways and can't quite believe I've made it. You will too, sooner than you think, it will be in the past. Thinking of you x
