Eyebrows during chemo

Hi All,

This is a strange question but I was wondering if anyone has plucked their eyebrows during chemo?

I know one can loose them to chemo so at the start I didn’t worry about plucking them. Now looking at them  wow they have sprouted more hair so I thought about tidying them up a little.

Just wondered if anyone else had continued to do that whilst on chemo as I was worried about the fact we are more open to infection.

Woujd be great to hear what others have done.

Thanks cuffcake x x x x x

  • Hey   I noticed my eyebrows and eye lashes grew after my first chemo but since have started losing the hairs. Not hugely noticeable but I can tell. I think the hairs you naturally lose hair don’t grow back! I plucked mine to keep them tidy but haven’t had to do it much since, just the odd rogue hair needs to go! I am careful though that I don’t punch the skin! Xx

  • After about 3 weeks you will find that your eyebrows don’t sprout new hairs. So it shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t think I plucked my eyebrows during chemo. I did get a powder brow done to help when my eyebrows thinned. Others had micro blading. All pre chemo. Hope the chemo is kind to you

  • Hi Shellbell24, knowing my luck I’ll loose the eyebrows and keep the extra growth underneath JoyJoy

  • Hi Zephyr, thank you. I’ll have a look at powder brow, it’s not something I’ve heard of. It’s funny how extra hairs have sprouted but maybe they will drop out. I’m on day8 after chemo so from what I’ve heard hair loss can start from around now.
Wishing you all the best with your journey.

  • Haha! That’s what I would expect of me too! Could be a new look Joy

  • I booked in early ish - a powder brow is continuous shaped colour behind your natural eyebrows. Its a kind of tattoo. It fades in sunlight and will eventually disappear. When you are tired on chemo, it is so easy just to colour in the lines!! Micro or nano blading is tattooing eyebrow hairs behind your natural eyebrows - a bit more scratchy tattoo perhaps. Normally there is a touch up after 6 weeks. I never did that as no time, and it worked perfectly well for me. Buy yourself a good brow pencil that matches your natural eyebrows and then you are all set for chemo. Of course, you could tattoo on eyeliner if you like for the same reason - when eyelashes start to fall. That is usually towards the end, around 3-4 months in to chemo. You may not lose them all of course, and they start to regrow within a few weeks of your last chemo.

And try the look good feel better course - its fabulous help once you are in the rhythm of chemo and need a boost.

  • Thank you Zephyr for taking the time to explain what it is and the difference I will bear that in mind if I find they do fall out or become thin. Eyebrow pencil sounds easiest but obviously is only for a day, the powder brow does sound good Thumbsup

    Thanks again Kissing heart

  • If you wanted to tattoo your eyebrows, you'd need to do it before chemo starts because of your suppressed immune system on chemo. I am hopeless with makeup, which is why I went for the tattoo. If you are good at applying makeup then it might well be unnecessary for you

  • I’ve ordered some stuck on eyebrows (sounds awful but they’re really good) Insta link for her site (she has alopecia) is instagram.com/zaralenacosmetics

  • Thanks Shellbell24, I’ll have a look Eyes Zephyr also mentioned powder brow too
