Hormone Therapy

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone takes Aromasin, exemestane tablets for hormone therapy? I've had tiny blister like spots on my face for a few weeks, and think a couple are appearing in other sections of my face. I've just read that these can be a side effect, and wondered if anyone had had this experience and what they did to relieve any pain/discomfort?

My GP prescribed a cream last week, which I thought eased the worst of the discomfort, but didn't stop more breaking out. He's given me tablets for coldsores/things like that, but not I've read it can be a side effect, I'm wondering whether to bother with them. Weekend now, so unable to speak with a doctor. I'd appreciate any responses, feeling so fed up with everything. Thought I was on the mend, but apparently things must keep happening. :/

  • I should say that although the GP knows I'm on this therapy and the treatment I've had, he's going through a trial and error scenario with this, as he's no clue what they can be

  • Hello, I am on Aromasin but don't get this nasty side effect. Stiffness joint pain, eye problems and weight gain but not this. Hopefully, someone will answer with a remedy, but if not you could talk to your doctor about changing to a different aromatase . I changed from Letrozole to Exemestane because of weight gain but for you, Letrozole might be better. Aromasin is the brand name for Exemestane so I doubt changing to a generic form of it would help. But do ask if a change could help. Good luck

  • I'm not sure I get any other side effects really, though I've noticed an old war would in my shoulder is pretty much constantly there, whereas before it would only hurt on occasion. I did mention thThinkingat one point, but the nurse didn't seem concerned. The wee marks are just under my nose, and feel like pin pricks if I catch them. So annoying! And think one is forming under my eye now. I've alwaysThinkingad healthy, clear skin, so this is disappointing. I need to see the hospital soon about chest pain I've been getting, so I'll bring it up with them if that's before the doc. How come nothing is straThinkinght forward... Thinking

  • Omg sorry for the emojis!

  • I've been on exemestane for about 19 months and have gone through a few side effects. I had terrible wrist pain for about 6-9 months that has disappeared now.

A few months ago, I started getting patches of what I thought was psoriasis coming back after not having it for 20 or so years.

But not all patches look like that and I have some red patches and have just developed a pin prick rash too.

My GP prescribed me a strong steroid which keeps the worst of the itchiness away but for the patches where it's red, it doesn't make much difference. She didn't seem to think there was anything to be done about stopping rashes breaking out.

I have my 6 monthly oncologist/pharmacist appointment shortly so will be mentioning it to them.

I know that skin rashes can be a side effect.

  • Oh no, I was hoping they could do something. Can't bear the thought of having it for the next five years. If they were in a different place it wouldn't be so bad, but they're right under my nose! I hope you get on well at your appointment:)

  • Oh no that is a real nuisance for sure.  Hope not painful.  Can you go see a dermatologist as they are so much better at diagnosing skin issues?  Things can look like one thing but be another.  Take care.

  • I think it’s a type of acne rash. Most important is not to squeeze or pop the lumps. You could try asking for lymecycline from the GP. It can be quite a painful rash for some, and antibiotics would help you.
the rash happens because our oestrogen levels are so low, that the testosterone takes over. That causes a few problems like acne for example.
it sounds uncomfortable so you could ask your GP for help and advice.
