Hi all,

I’ll be starting on Verzenios (abemaciclib) next month. I’d be really grateful if anyone taking it could share their experience of side effects - thanks!

  • Hey

How you getting on with it for your first couple of days ?
    L xx

  • Day 4 and good so far - nothing except I am literally so tired today I can barely think!  Hoping I might be one of the ones with no side effects but my Imodium is nearby ready to go in case….

  • Great , hope you are !
Im on my second week and the imodium is now being used  ! I’m hoping it won’t get too bad , fingers crossed xx

  • Hope it settles soon.  My insides are starting to gurgle a bit…

  • Hey everyone

Any advice for the stomach cramps or tips on what might help ?
I have ibs anyway so always have Imodium and buscopan in the house but the cramps are so intense I’m crying . I will call the nurse tomorrow but has anyone else had the same ?
Amy tips on food/ teas / supplements?
    L xx

  • I’m so sorry you are suffering with cramps.   My oncologist told me to take Imodium the minute I felt tummy pain. As for food, I’m not in a position to advise because I’m having such appetite problems that I’m only eating a little of what I fancy.  Most of the time it’s a Big Mac but I can only manage half of one and no chips.   I’m not usually a junk foodie.
I hope others can give you tips on food.  In the meantime, I feel it for you as those camps and pains can be debilitating.  I’m in my second cycle now and the cramps are less severe but the diarrhoea is still most days.   I hope things settle for you soon. Take care. Xx

  • Sorry to hear that you are suffering, its horrible.

I'm struggling to find foods that don't trigger but the nurses tell me to eat, white rice, pasta, potatoes, basically nothing that will stimulate the gut, so no wholemeal bread etc

I think milk is causing me problems so trying to avoid.

    I'm on cycle 6 & still struggling

    Best wishes x

  • Sorry to hear that you are struggling. I had very little appetite at first, has improved a bit now, I also craved unhealthy food lol

Unfortunately I'm still struggling with diarrhoea in cycle 6

    Best wishes x

  • I’m on cycle 6 and tummy problems are very up and down. I can have a few good days and then a few bad  days, there doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern! I find that a hot water bottle really helps me when I get cramps and I started taking probiotics a few months ago which have eased symptoms. I tried keeping a good diary for a while to try and find the triggers but there didn’t seem to be any. I’ve got an appointment tomorrow with an oncology nutritionist so will be interested to see if she can help. I will post any advice she offers :-)

  • Hi Kitty, goodness me! Diarrhoea in cycle 6?  That must be awful after so long.  I know you are determined to stick to 150gm dose and well done for your tenacity.  Have you enquired the effectiveness of 100gms versus 150gms?   I’ve been offered a reduction already but felt it was early days yet.  The zoladronic acid put me in bed for days and 12 days later I’m still suffering with fatigue so bad that I spend most of the day on the couch under a blanket.  not sure I can take another one in six months time.  Anyway I wish you well. M xx
