Hi. I had Her2+ ER+ breast cancer. Mastectomy no lymph node involvement.
Am into second year of Letrozole and suddenly my skin has become extremely wrinkly.
Has anyone else experienced this. I want to stop Letrozole. Has anyone tried collagen supplements do they work.
Thank you
Hi Krysia
if you look on Liz o’riodan’s grid on Instagram, she did a video on this. Unfortunately collagen isn’t that safe for hormone positive bc if taken orally as cancer cells can use it somehow. I can’t remember the exact science but it’s worth checking out. She was a breast surgeon before her own diagnoses and has a phd in oncology. I think you can still apply it topically and it may be safe for you if you had no lymph node involvement…but it’s worth doing your research. Xx
Hi krysiatennis, thanks for starting this thread, funnily enough I said to my husband today how wrinkly I seem to have become, all of a sudden! I’ve been on Anastrozole for 3 and a half years and I’m the same age as you (well briefly the same, I’m 63 imminently!). I haven’t taken the best care of my skin but I’m convinced I’ve got particularly wrinkly quite quickly so it probably is the Anastrozole. I’ll have a look for the stuff by Liz o’Riordan, I’ve liked all I’ve read of hers. I haven’t tried any supplements, just take calcium and vitamin D. Love and hugs, HFxx
I’m so sorry to hear about your experience, but I totally understand how you’re feeling. I had a similar situation after a long treatment, and I noticed my skin started to lose its elasticity as well. I was also on a medication that left my skin dry and wrinkled, and I really wanted to try something to help.
