Hi all, I’ve been following the current thread on recurrence rates for people who have been told that they have a high risk of recurrence. If anyone knows of a group or website that provides some positive vibes for those of us deemed to be of higher risk, then it would be great to share. For one thing, the Predict data is a tad out of date now. I believe that it is currently being revised and updated. For example, it doesn’t include anything for radiotherapy. Also, the data will now be based on patients treated quite some years ago. It would be great to hear from people (including men) who were told they were at higher risk, but 10, 15 years later, they are still ok!! I do personally know women (who I met via chemo) who are stage four data outliers. By this I mean that they have been stage 4 for at least 9 years and are still going strong!! Another reason why I would like to see some uplifting vibes is because I always feel a slight stomach churn when someone writes ‘thankfully it wasn’t in any of my lymph nodes, so that’s great news!! ’. Well it is good news, but having no lymph involvement isn’t the be and end all, which is why I think we aren’t told that we are ‘cured’. Sadly. I’ve read stories (on good sites like Breast Cancer Now) where no lymph was involvement found, but a recurrence has occurred. Which means, I think, that we are all at risk, but that some of us are at higher risk than others.
Hope you don’t mind me writing this, but I just hate people feeling frightened and overwhelmed by the info given to them by medical teams. Xx
She was adorable both outside and inside. She was an inspiration and know if she was alive today she would share her experience.

Ok …. Here’s my starter for 10 … a celebrity who is 8 years clear of an aggressive triple negative diagnosis.
A lady on the breast cancer now forum sent me a really lovely, long message when I posted a similar message on that forum. I tried to copy and paste but it won’t let me.
antway, the gist was that she is 12 years clear after having 14 of 18 positive lymph nodes (some were above her collar bone) and that when she was diagnosed, they put her in touch with a lady through that ‘someone like me’ scheme. They are still in touch now and that lady had more positive lymph nodes and was 8 years clear at the time so must be 20 years clear now. She also said that she entered into a group with 18 women at the time on that forum and most of them are still Alive and in touch. She pointed out that most pre-menopausal rumours are grade 3 and she know several women who are many years clear after being diagnosed late thirties. I wish I could post it all as it was such a detailed and lovely message….but it was full positivity and basically, some people do survive long term with a terrible looking picture at the outset. X
