Hi all, I'm trying to get my head sorted out..... just keep thinking about having dense breast tissue and the implications. Is it why I still have coloured dye in my breast and should we be given an alternative to mammogram bearing in mind it doesn't pick up on tumour. Can anyone out there provide info??
Thanks in advance. xx
I asked for ultrasounds as I too have very dense tissue. The surgeon agreed to put it on my notes as my tumour didn’t even show on mammogram but then reassuringly said that the post-surgery scar tise would make it hard to see anything either way going forwards
. Hoping the tamoxifen makes the tissue less dense, over time x
Thank you Hel39 for your quick reply. Think you've confirmed what I have been thinking. I found my tumour but it didn't show on mammogram. Showed up on CT scan along with another tumour which fortunately, was benign. Wasn't aware scar tissue would make it even more difficult but haven't been able to talk to anyone about it.
When I had first mammogram result was clear, but keeping thinking about!!!
Wonder if letrozole will make any difference xx
I also had dense breast tissue, and the oncologist said that might be why my cancer didn't show on the mammogram. I was told that chemo changes the breast tissue so it isn't so dense. But when I asked the radiographer, she said that I had an occult cancer that simply didn't show up on the mammogram. I was offered an annual MRI as well as the mammogram for screening on the remaining breast. I just had my 1-year results - clear. Phew.
I also still have a little blue mark on the opposite arm from the cancer as a nice souvenir of the surgery. I call it my tattoo.
Thank you Redsquirrelnuts. Really pleased your 1st year results were clear.
My first mammogram was also clear but can't stop wondering about dense tissue!! Perhaps I'm just overthinking. I call my blue mark blobby
