I have had abnormal breast exams a couple times throughout the years...but in all different sections of the breast.
This time it is my right breast upper quarderent, posterior.
My appointment is at 2pm...I'm not worried about the biopsy....I am worried about the results.
The Dr. rated my Ultra Sound BI-RADS 4.....I learned the Drs use these ratings to evaluate their own accuracy....so I guess I should just be grateful he didn't BI-RAD 5 because I know these Drs have been doing this for a long time...so in my case I guess it has some criteria of a malignancy but they are not sure.
Here goes.
Hi Misssy. I’m really sorry you’re in this position, the waiting to get a diagnosis or the all clear is so hard. I think a 4 category mammogram is really tough as it covers such a wide range. Category 3 doesn’t get a biopsy in most cases so they have to be pretty sure it’s benign, and to go for 5 they have to be very sure it’s cancerous, so everything in between gets a 4. Are you having a more detailed mammogram today as well, that might give a clearer picture?
Really good luck this afternoon, I hope the biopsy goes smoothly and you get good results quickly.

Yes, last week I was called back for the compression view...and an Ultrasound then they made the decision to biopsy.
I just read your profile and you have BEEN THRU IT.....I don't yet know what NEDDY means thou. I tried to research it..but I am so shaky today over many other issues besides this cancer stuff........I saw your husband was severly injured as well...Sending you big hugs...hope it helps to know someone cares enough to read your profile.
I thought I was wishful thinking when I was Googling myself to death and found that some of these "masses" can be from an injury.
We have recently gotten a big dog....I play very rough with him....his paws are very powerful and she is very strong and always squishing my boobs and my stomach etc....
However, last time I had a Mammogram a year ago...there was nothing there that THEY FOUND (and I didn't have the dog)...but I felt pain in the exact area they are biopsing today....and what they found is tiny 0.4 x 0.5 x 0.4...this is a good reminder to me and others....IF you feel pain or anything weird in a mammogram bring it up....
I wish I had at the time because where my "issue" is located is very close to the lymph nodes.....
I hope it IS an injury...but next week I am having a scope of my Uterus for post menopausal bleeding and
I KNOW in my GUT that is going to be something because I have always shown HPV on and off since 1990.
Thank you for your support...and I hope it is a bruise.
That is a tiny area. Good luck for scope too. We worry ourselves to death. When they asked me if I'd knocked my breast I couldn't think. I'm a G cup, they get in the way a lot. NEDDY means No Evidence of Disease! See we can't even give ourselves the "cured" tag.
Re pain. I never had any pain, lumps, dents etc. the only pain I get is scanxiety once appointment letter drops through post. My breasts start aching and stabbing pains !
Hope it went ok. I didn't find biopsies that bad thankfully. How long they making you wait for results?
Thank you for asking...Well, I didn't read anything about the "titanium clip" they place in the spot they biopsied.
So, I'm one of those patients that questions everything, makes notes on their papers with things I don't agree with (when you sign all the papers...I READ THEM)....I worked reviewing detailed information for Pharmaceuticals..I'm a DIFFICULT PATIENT.
Dr. comes in..introduces self. He asked..any questions? I said yes...what is this titanium clip for? He said, so we can mark where the suspect area is for further procedures or mammograms.
He thought he was done answering my questions...and turned his back to me to get ready...LOL
So then I asked WHY doesn't the mammograms, reports and documentation, because I always come to the same place, let you KNOW where the spot is?
He said because breasts change and 10 years later, that spot can move and be suspected again so it is to show it has already been biopsied. I was satisfied with the answers so we continued. If it bothers me I will just have it removed.
That was the highlight of the visit...I didn't really feel anything...they took their 3 samples. Had a soft compression mammogram after the biopsy so they could make sure the titaniam clip was in the right spot...
The results he told me will be 2-3 days, In the US...I will be able to see the results as soon as they are posted (usually before my Dr).....
Thank you again for asking.
So at my biopsy they didn't put in a marker even though radiographer called doctor in to ask if she should place markers. She said no need! So when I had surgery I had to go have a wire inserted a few hours prior to mark area. After surgery nothing mentioned about markers but at year 6 as they recalled me they showed me scan and there's about a dozen there ! They said it marks tumour bed they removed from.
2-3 dats is good. I was 7 days first biopsy, 10 days post surgery results and 5 days second biopsy. My annual mammogram was usually results on day. My screening mammograms was 3 weeks and recall!
