Hi folks
I'll be starting chemo in a few weeks - what's your advice? I know it'll be pretty horrible but am looking for anything I can do to make it less horrible - frozen grapes and ice cream sounds like the way to go!
Feel free to chuck your thoughts my way - preferably positive rather than negative thoughts.
Thanks
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn321, I am due to start my chemo next week with same chemo cycles as u. I have read a lot about stocking up on mouthwash, Gaviscon, etc. but am wondering whether I need to take anything to my hospital chemo session with me? I will be having the cold cap, do they supply blankets or should I take my own?
i hope you are coping with the side effects and wish you well with the remainder of your treatment x
Hi there
Well like you I'm going to be starting chemo I a few weeks. I'm scared stiff. Firstly I refused it but I'm going to see the oncologist next Monday because she said she wants to talk to me and show me facts and figures face to face ( only spoken on telephone so far) to make sure I fully understand how important chemo is to a grade 3 her2+ person. SO I know I'm going to say yes ...what choice is there really.
It seems to take some high degree of bravery to go into this. I'm a bit of a coward though!
BUT first ... before I start in a few weeks ... I'm off to Europe ...just for a few days to 'live' a little ... see a few nice places like Bruges and Amsterdam etc.
Then I'll get back to reality. If all these ladies on here have done it ... we can too!
Hi Asblueas
I am so relieved that you have managed to reach a decision and that you are doing something nice before you get started with the rest of your treatment. All of us here would have preferred not to need the dreaded chemo. I hope that you get on ok with it. Many, although not all, have minimal SE.
Let us know how you get on when you meet your onc. and what treatments you will actually be having. Whatever it is, there will usually be several here who have been through the same ahead of you and will be happy to share hints and tips for getting through and out the other end.
Wishing you a good time in Europe.
