Hi Claud
You mention stomach problems. The nurses in the chemo-suite told me to get Omeprazole or something similar from my GP and to take it every morning while on chemo. It supresses stomach acid production and is used by folk with gastric ulcers and hiatus hernia etc.
I did this and it went a long way towards keeping my tummy comfortable.
Good luck

Hi Wally
I am taking omeprazole one per day but can some burns in large intestine feels like. I start my day with yogurt so that it can coat my gut a bit. I seem to get hit by one after another and its so up and down. One minute I feel I can manage then another I am just a wreck! When I pee it burns as well but I have been drinking lots. Its just crummy right now...how will I go another 5 rounds of this??
Can anyone please share what their diet is like?

Try doing 2 a day, I had 1 with breakfast and 1 with lunch. My diet was very hit and miss on chemo, on EC I could eat pretty much anything and tried to eat lots of veg, I found that I couldn’t eat raw stuff like salad, tomatoes and cucumber.I also found that I had to eat little and often or the nausea was worse. On docetaxel everything was disgusting, I found lemon flavoured stuff, sorbets, sharper flavours worked better, scrambled eggs, porridge. I struggled with bread particularly and I still can’t eat sausages!! Seems to me people can tolerate different things, I had a thread on this, I’ll see if I can find it….
I took more than one Omeprazole on some days, if I needed to. I found that I could taste lemon and lemon zest and also fresh chili. They did not taste normal, but I did get something of a flavour and not a bad one.
You need to do what you need to do to get by. Take a day at a time and if you need to give in and have a lie down for a nap, do it. This is just for a while to do in your gremlin cells and then you will be able to put it all behind you. If you are struggling tell your specialist nurse and your oncologist before the next treatment. I had a bad First cycle of EC and I told them all about it. They changed my support meds and then next rounds were completely transformed. I still had days that felt grim tho.
Wishing you all the best

Hi, how are you doing today? I took 2 Omeprazole for about a week around each chemo cycle and to be honest, I am still taking them now, 6 months on, as when I have tried to stop the indigestion and heartburn starts.
Diet wise - I ate a lot of soup, crackers and hummus. This seemed to taste ok (ish). Cucumber also seemed to always taste ok for me. I bought tins of those old fashioned travel sweets and they helped as well. There were days when everything tasted like cardboard but I just ate it as I knew I needed to eat. It's all a bit hit and miss, but this will pass, stay strong xx
