  • Hello Sharons34. Mine is a stage 2, but my first (wrong) diagnosis was stage 4 with mets to the lungs, and that is how it stayed for nearly 11 months and what I was being treated for. There was a point where it seemed treatment was not working, but I got an iron grip on myself because I knew that falling apart was not an option for me. For me, distraction worked for some degree as well as prioritising. I decided early on that I did not want to hear people's opinions about any of it, so only discussed things with my partener, asked my oncologist a lot of questions, and addressed practicalities, which helped me.

  • Hi, I’m on Capecitabine and had to have the dpd blood test beforehand. The result was fine and I now take 10 Capecitabine  a day ( three 500mg and two 150mg, twice a day). I take them for 2 weeks and then have a week off. I have to have a blood test before starting the next cycle and have a consultation with my oncologist.

My path was similar to yours in that my medication stopped working after 4 years (Anastrozole). After unsuccessfully trying the other hormone tablets, and the cancer spreading, I had a biopsy which showed my cancer was no longer oestrogen receptive. At this point I’d been having the wrong treatment for two years. We tried a chemo drug which worked while I was having it, but stopped working once I came off it, and am now on the Capecitabine tablets. Keeping fingers crossed this works.

I’ve got bone mets too and have Denosumab every 4 weeks.

    Take care
