Was diagnosed yesterday with DCIS. Feel numb, scared, anxious and angry. Need to have surgery

  • Oh Nimsay

Cry if you must. Get it out of your system. It's a release for your body. I also haven't cried this much all my life! Mentally and emotionally draining for sure! Promise it will get better hun.

Have you got more scans coming?

  • If I had tiny breasts I'd go for one surgery and gone I think.  I'm a G cup so I'd be walking like Quasimodo with a one sided boob but I was initially offered a reduction on both breasts - unnecessary in the end.

The mental strain while waiting fir full treatment plan and results is horrendous and no one understands aside from us xx

  • You're right, Haveacuppa...when you're on a low the only way is UP! Haha seems we're the same.

TV is my friend right now. Watching I'm a celeb. Yuck re trials lol

    So true it’s exhausting

  • You probably feel more empowered and in control now that decision is made.

You will be fine...as days go by, there will be ups and downs but you're on a path now.

Yes it’s so windy and it’s snowing here. Plus I just can’t sleep my minds not switching off. Is it your left or right breast? I’m worried how radiotherapy will effect my heart as it’s my left breast.

  • Hi

I know sleeping is difficult when u got so much to think about, when it's quiet its worse!!

Mine is right but am right handed keep forgetting and use it as normal and then pains afterwards! Duh!

Believe that the radiographers are trained to give precise zaps! We fear the worse but they're not going to cause more harm than good!! Don't over think as their objective is healing and the machines are so precise these days!!!

You can raise this to them, just so u get peace of mind as I am no expert! Its the same when we have surgery they don't cut off more than they should or put more radioactive stuff in us! It's hard I know but these are experts and know what they're doing!

I am scared about chemo n it's keeping me awake. Just trying to find ways to just make treatment days less stressful as I am alone the whole day and can only take good care of me!
