Hi guys. Just a question has anyone experienced a tender upper chest/neck and lower jaw area and a weird numb type feeling following clearance. I know they sometimes have to cut nerves. I’m 5 months post op.
cheers

  • I gathered it wasn’t ‘sometimes’ they cut nerves, I was told they always do. My own armpit pain, from just two lymph nodes being removed, felt like being stabbed in the armpit. I’ve also had electric shock pains in my shoulder, but they seem to be diminishing now. As you’ve had so much more extensive surgery than me I can believe it could take months and some nerve damage could be permenent, although hopefully better than now. But that’s my totally non medical opinion so do check it out with your BCN. You can always ask them even if it’s been ages

  • Hi. Thanks for reply. I was told they try to avoid cutting nerves but depends on how clumped the nodes are around nerves. I have numbness back of arm but this occurred after radiotherapy whole upperInformation desk personhest tender to touch goes up neck to face. It’s weird feeling of numbness without being numb. If you get my drift. Bit odd. Went doctors she thinks I may of had shingles but who knows Information desk person

  • In my experience GPs know less about the side effects to cancer treatments than the BCNs!
