Hi

need some advise.I am 3 weeks away to starting radiotherapy, After, undergoing surgery and chemo for breast cancer. My daughter caught  Covid , 10 days ago and is out of isolation

today.I moved to my mum’s when I found out , to ensure I  didn’t catch it as I only got my booster jab ,a week before.I felt that after coming so far ,I couldn’t risk catching it.

My partner stayed at home. As he was out working all day so minimal contact with her.She did stay in her room apart from going to the bathroom.

My dilemma is , when do I go home. She is now testing negative but my fear is if my partner has it but not showing symptoms. We both had a PCR test on day the day she tested positive, whereby we were both negative. He is doing daily lateral flows and so far is negative.

Just need to know when it is safe to go back home ? Advise. Needed

  • Hi Kiki62

I would give it another week at least before you go home just to be on the safe side.

    Hope this helps

Best of luck with your radiotherapy when it starts.

    Best wishes

  • What a worry for you, as if having cancer isn't enough being away from your husband and daughter right now just adds to it.  I would check with your breast care nurse to be on the safe side.  Whilst they didn't check me for Covid before the radiotherapy, they only check my temperature daily and give me the hand gel, which did surprise me, I'd stlll be really careful.  I have had a text advising that I'm at higher risk of complications from Covid, and to have my booster, already done) breast cancer has wrecked my immune system, so be careful.  Since diagnosis I've had blood in my stool, upset tummys, cololoscopy, possible IBS, shingles and colds.  If it's going, right now I'll get it.  Thankfully the colonoscopy was clear for cancer.  That's a really long way of me saying, check with the breast care nurse, they will give the best and most up to date advice.  Good luck with the radiotherapy, last one today for me.

  • Daisy thank you so much for your advise xx
