Hi

I completed a 5 day (consecutive) blast of radiotherapy 2 weeks ago and I’ve now developed a rash approx 2 inches square near my breast bone, it’s slightly spotty  & frustratingly itchy!

So far I’ve only used the emollient provided by the Radiotherapy Dept (showering & moisturising), but it doesn’t feel like it’s enough to calm the irritation.

Can any of you please recommend any cream that has worked for you?

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your treatment and recovery xx

  • Hi I didn't have a rash or itching so the only thing I can recommend is getting in touch with your radiotherapy team or your breast care nurse and asking them. They must have come across this with other people so hopefully they know what to recommend.

Hope you get this resolved soon.

  • Aveeno do a good anti itch cream,I had shingles last year and was very bad, this cream was great.Buy from most chemist or Superdrug.

  • I was also advised to use hydrocortisone 1% for the itchiness which helped as I got very itchy on top of boob. I used this along with E45. Only lasted about a week. X

  • My unit gave me Flamigel which I’m applying 3 times a day. One week post 15 days of rads and so far, so good. They did tell me I could take Piriton if I got really itchy, which I’ve done once so far.

Hope you find something that works for you xx

  • Aloe Vera gel

    E45 anti itch cream

    hydrocortisone

    antihistamines

Hope you are less itchy soon x

  • My radiotherapy finished 3 weeks ago. A friend sent me moo goo cream...v good. Also have 99 percent aloe vera in the fridge. This cools the irritated area I have which is mainly under my arm. I have what looks like enlarged pores and little white dry patches. I am also using sebamed body wash.

    Hi Doy

I had 5 days RT too and developed a significant rash which was horribly painful. Couldn't seem to find anything to soothe or calm it down. Kept having to wash off any creams or moisturiser that were recommended. I do have poor skin + psoriasis which doesn't help.

in the end I used AfterSun recommended by my brother who was a radiographer and sonographer all his working life!

    Great result

Hope you feel better soon Slight smile
