I had an urgent recall for more tests following a routine mammogram ( 56 years old). Further tests, diagnostic mammogram found a small cluster of microcalcifications. I had a biopsy and results today came back as not showing signs of DCIS but the cells were atypical. I am now booked in for a vacuum biospy next week. I am exhausted and confused … has anyone had results like this?

Hi NicciK, that link looks interesting. I had ‘atypical’ cells after a needle aspiration and subsequent biopsy, about 16 years ago. I had found a lump myself and the mammogram was inconclusive. After the atypical cells result it was decided to remove the lump and it turned out to be a fibroadenoma. These are benign and I needed no further treatment. It’s a worrying time for you and obviously you need to know exactly what you’re dealing with, but I’d take some interim comfort from the fact that nothing invasive has been found so far. Try to keep busy during this horrible limbo time and do let us know how you get on. Good luck with the vacuum biopsy - I’ve not had one so can’t offer any information or advice regarding it. Love and hugs, HFxx
