I know I shouldn’t. But been Googling my diagnosis and most sites say that grade 3 triple negative cancer is not curable .  They say it can be treated but not cured .  This is going to define the rest of my life , I am unbelievable sad .  The past year for me has been fraught with lots of emotional pain. Do I really want to spend the next year fighting this when it’s not curable .  I am so sad Sob

Harleybear are you sure that the information  is correct and up to date?  Treatment today is so different from even 5 years ago. This treatment you need now is realisticly going to take a year . What did your surgeon say about this ? And have you seen an oncologist yet? My surgeon said my cancer was stage 3 but oncologist who had the tumor analysed revised it down to a Stage 2 . Until the tumor is out and under a microscope Its still hard to predict. But I do think that chemotherapy first is the way to go. Are you going to opt for a lumpectomy or maesectomy?

  • Hello Harleybear I’m so sorry you are feeling so sad but I believe there are many on this forum who are well and living good lives despite having TNBC and I hope some of them come forward to reassure you.  As I understand it most breast cancers aren’t ‘cured’ but treatable which is why we are monitored for years after having our treatments.  I rarely google because I’ve learned through this forum the information is often out of date and I’m trying to resist . I’ve heard TNBC responds well to chemo. Hope this helps a little and you get some help from the wonderful ladies on here xxx

Just been on the  American Cancer medical site they are giving very good  survival fingers for triple negitive breast cancer. The NHS giving the same very good statistics but both only have data from 2010 ! Eleven years ago !!! The survival rates will be even higher now ! X

    Thinking about you

  • Hello , I am seeing the oncologist on Monday .  With the surgery it is unlikely to happen until March  next year so not really thought about it .  The breast that it is in also hurts quite a bit at Crye moment and I am hoping this is because of all the biopsies .    It just feels like the end for me right now Cry

  • Thanks for that Jayne that info has helped me too.  Good luck with chemo, sorry you are struggling with the bombshell but hope it goes as well as it can xx

    Hi Wobbly 1 and Harleybear

It's a very difficult time well that's a bloody understatement. .  What we need to remember is that it takes years to carry out this statistical analysis . And by the time it's published most academic research is out of date anyway. So all these  research papers are giving correct information but not up to date information . And the information for cancer survival rates are not correct today 2/10/21 ! Furthermore, the treatment that these patients had  is not the same treatment that you are having now . Your treatment is more up to date . Whilst academic research scientists are still carrying out research now  into different types of cancer we don't have the published data for 2021  and won't have it for a few years yet so it's meaningless to rely on data from 2010 it was only correct in 2110 !

    Cheers Jayne

  • Thanks for that and for being so supportive, it’s much appreciated xx
