Hi everyone.
I have tumours in both breasts so will have to have radio therapy on both .
anyone else ?
I know it’s rare . What is the breath holding I hear people talking about ?

Hello and welcome. If, like me its your left breast, they do radiotherapy using a breath hold technique. When lying down you take a deep breath so lungs inflate and chest rises, it means your heart drops in your chest thus making sure you don't nuke the heart just the breast. You get to practise and they did mine at my CT scan appointment when they also did all the measurements for the planning session. Its only for about 20 seconds each time and I do it twice maybe 3 times during radiotherapy.
HiPenelopeJ57
i had radiotherapy to left breast and was worried about the breath hold. Practised before treatment started and was scared that I’d not be able to hold breath and they’d zap my heart! Need not have worried, the breatold was never more than 10 seconds and the radiographers counted me down so I knew how long I had to go. Good luck
