Hi I have I am going for radiotherapy planning today received letter yesterday stating partial breast radiotherapy 5 sessions at 25gy. I am grade 2 0/1 lymph node 2cm tumour her positive started on letrazole, her2 negative. However my tumour was not palpable as I am large breasted my surgeon and BCN have said I was very lucky it was detected early on my first mammogram as it was very deep. I am now scared that partial breast radiotherapy may not deal with any cancer cells that had spread and were on the way to my lymph nodes. I thought radiotherapy was too whole breast to kill any floating around cells. Am I worrying and scared for no reason ?
I don't have an answer but noticed you didn't have any replies. All I would say is that the medical team to the absolute best for you and tailor the treatment to you and you alone. If they are giving you partial breast radiotherapy, then that is what you need. You could always ask your oncologist, but I'm sure they know what they're doing.
I’m having partial breast rads too. My consultant assured me that this would be the best treatment for me. From what I’ve read I think the teams work hard to get the right treatment for each individual. The research that I’ve read seems to say that they are using partial much more these days. I’m hoping they know what they’re doing !
