Hi all,
Just wondering how people cope with these injections for HER2+ after chemo is finished? I’m due my first one next week and a little nervous as I really want to start feeling better post chemo. Any side effects or tips on dealing with them?
Thank you,
Ruby xx
Hi, I've had 3 of this treatment as injections and also 3 through a picc line before it was removed. The injections are absolutely fine. They don't hurt, just sting a little at the start. Last 10mins, they can't be any faster as the solution is too viscous to be injected faster. They are injected straight into the flesh on your thigh, so no need to find a vein. Afterwards I had a large bruise which went after a week and yesterday after my injection the tissue around the needle point was slightly raised and puffy, but settled after a few days. It's all done in a private room by an experienced nurse. Really I wouldn't worry about it, I was in & out in 30mins total, much better than intravenous and no side effects from the treatment itself, but of course we are all different in how we react.
