Hi, so far I’ve had lumpectomy to remove the tumour and now having chemo as I need Herceptin for her 2+ As ‘belts and braces’ as they keep telling me. I’ve just completed 3/6 chemo rounds and used the cold cap so have a bit of hair left. I’ve really struggled with the fatigue and nausea of the fec which on my last 2 kicked in straight away and lasted about a week. This time though 2 days in I’m feeling tired but not as bad - has anyone else found it affects you differently each cycle? I guess I’m dreading the extreme fatigue kicking in again perhaps after the steroids finish today?
I’m also dreading my next 3 chemos even though I’m trying to stay positive that I’m halfway through I start docetaxel next with Herceptin. They seem to be avoiding telling me so far about the next chemo type which is worrying me - has anyone got any tips on how to survive the next 3? I’m trying to take one day at a time and enjoy the days I feel well but emotionally it’s tough.
Hi yours was similar to mine, mine was grade 2 er 8/8 pr 7/8 20mn her2 positive. What was the size of your lump xxx
Yes I’m her 2 positive and my tumour size was 14mm but I had more pre cancerous cells surrounding tumour than they originally thought so that’s why I had to have 2nd lumpectomy. Hope your treatment went ok today xx
Hi that's the same as me, lump was removed with good margins but had more pre cancerous cells than they thought so having a masectomy with immediate reconstruction when I finish chemo and go onto herceptin xxxx
Aah yes they told me that if they didn’t get enough the second time I would need to have a mastectomy. Have you started chemo yet? I’ve finished the fec-t a few weeks ago. I had the first 3 doses of Herceptin with the docetaxel chemo and now will continue to have it over the next year. It hasn’t caused any problems so far.
Hi yh I started my chemo today. I am having the same treatment as you. Was you lymph nodes clear. Mine was clear. Feeling okay, just alittle headache pushing alot of water to help flush it through. I have heard docetaxel is not as bad, depends on the individual and afew people have noticed hair growth. I think this cycle is the strongest cycle xxxx
Yes my lymph nodes were clear as well. Yes keep drinking to flush the chemo out your system and if you feel feel tired etc just sleep it out. Docetaxel definitely wasn’t as bad for me as I didn’t feel quite so tired with it but it upset my stomach but they gave me something for that and my taste changed a bit but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I used the cold cap but the patches of hair I lost I definitely think started it grow back slowly with the docetaxel. Hope today wasn’t so scary for you and the staff were lovely. Good to get the first one done . Hope you feel ok with it all xx
Yes oncologist told me mine was early stage as well. He went through the predict app with me to show me how much the treatment would hopefully help reduce risk of it coming back. I have had the Herceptin As an injection in my leg and it hasn’t given me any problems so far. It does sound as if this drug is a game changer like you say and I think they use it for other type of cancers as well. I also have to take hormone tablets for 10 years and yesterday I took my first tablet. It’s all such a shock all of this and takes a lot to get your head around x
Hi I slept really well. Actually woke for a wee lol. Still pushing fluids Got my list of meds to start today. I want to use my mouthwash as a preventive try and protect my gums. It is alot to get your head round. What hormone meds are you taking xxx
