Hi, I’ve just had my first round of EC chemo on Thursday and the nurse told me to keep an eye on the tumour to see if it’s shrinking, this got me wondering how quickly can a tumour shrink? Will it start shrinking after the first treatment or much later? I know no one knows the exact answer to this but wondering what experiences everyone has?
Hi
I had an almost 6cm lump and had a scan after my second cycle of EC and it had already started reducing and was nearly half the size.
i had 3 weekly cycles of 3 EC and 4 docetaxal with pertuzamab and trastuzumab. At the end of the 7 cycles my lump was gone with no trace and the same in my lymph node that was affected. Still had to have the lumpectomy and lymph node removed though just to be sure all traces removed.
Due to the side effects on docetaxal the last 2 cycles were at the reduced dosage of 80% but it still did it’s job, amazing stuff that chemo!
good luck with your treatment x
Thank you both, that’s really helpful to know, hopefully mine shrinks just as quick. Well done to both of you and Baileylady no trace is absolutely amazing!
I had a 56mm lump that shrunk to 11mm after 2 cycles of TCHP. I must admit I was amazed, but I have been told aggressive cancers (I am grade 3) typically respond really well
