Hi all, I was diagnosed with grade 2 ER+ Breast Cancer last February, at 45years old. I have been on hormone treatment and lots of other alternative therapies since. I have done everything I could to try and avoid mastectomy. My latest MRI shows no active tumour but still some calcifications left. Based on the area they're covering (5x3cm) and appearing to be clustered my breast surgeon is still suggesting mastectomy as the 'best' option. Has anyone had a similar experience? Why a life changing surgery to remove calcifications which might not even be cancerous? Any input would be helpful . Thank you
Hi there. I'm not sure what to say as my cancer was pretty straightforward. I. On hormone therapy and have been for 5 yrs. I had a mastectomy then I had a risk reduction mastectomy on the other side with reconstruction about a year later. Mine unfortunately went to my bones. If I had to do it all again I wouldn't change it. My husband says as long as I'm still here they can chop off anything they like. Ha ha.
Good luck. Xx
It spread through my lymph nodes. I had a full clearance on the right side but it had already spread. When they took the other breast there was a second primary in that one. They said it was hard to find my tumors as they were lobular not ductual. The tamoxifen is preventing it from spreading further for now. Xx
